Grand Primeur wines represent an innovative approach to purchasing future vintages, allowing anyone to acquire wines directly from producers up to 10 years before production and bottling.

This concept expands on the traditional En Primeur model, which originated in Bordeaux, offering a bold new avenue for wine investment and appreciation.

While En Primeur allows you to purchase wines usually 8 to 18 months after the current vintage (depending on the region), Grand Primeur takes it a step further. This model lets you secure outstanding wines directly from producers up to 10 years in advance—before the grapes are even harvested.

Purchasing Grand Primeur wines carries the risk that a vintage might not be produced. This can occur due to adverse weather conditions or if the producer determines that the wine does not meet their quality standards. In such cases, both producers and Cellaris guarantee that buyers will automatically receive the same quantity of bottles from the next available vintage produced by the same winery.

Commission fees: Cellaris charges sellers a 10% commission on successful sales, equally shared with the wine producer. This innovative approach allows wine producers, for the first time, to directly benefit from the appreciation of their wine’s value over time—a groundbreaking advancement in the industry. There are no fees for buyers or unsold wines.

Storage fees: Since Grand Primeur wines are yet to be produced, there are no storage fees. However, we are considering offering storage services in the near future and will keep you updated as plans progress.

Taxes: In most countries, wine is classified as a “wasting chattel” for tax purposes, meaning it is typically exempt from Capital Gains Tax. However, if you regularly sell wine, these transactions might be considered taxable income by authorities such as HM Revenue & Customs. Tax laws vary by country and are subject to change, so we strongly recommend consulting a tax advisor if you have specific concerns.

Notifications: When you purchase wine from Cellaris, an approximated delivery date will be provided. You will then receive timely email reminders, first 3 months and again 1 month before the availability date, to ensure you’re informed and ready. These emails will also prompt you to select your preferred method for receiving your wine and provide complete inforrmation on the steps to follow.

Methods of receiving your wine: We offer three convenient options for retrieving your purchase:

1. Standard shipment: Make sure your delivery address is up-to-date and accurate in your profile to ensure smooth shipping. Additionally, please review local regulations regarding wine delivery and tax requirements to avoid any issues or delays.

2. Shipment to storage facility: We’re working on global storage solutions to help consumers store their wine conveniently once it’s ready.

3. Winery pickup: In certain circumstances, you may have the opportunity to pick up your wine directly from the winery.
